Information Age Computer Services · Effective October 14, 2026

Information Age Computer Services ("Information Age", "we", "us") collects only the personal information we need to serve clients, answer enquiries and send information people have asked for, and we protect it as we would our own.

This policy covers informationage.ca, our forms and booking pages, our emails and newsletters, and our dealings with clients and prospective clients. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

How we use your information

We use personal information only for the purposes below, or for a new purpose you agree to.

  • Deliver, support and bill for the services you have engaged us for

Consent and email marketing

We send newsletters and marketing emails only to people who have given us express or implied consent under CASL. Express consent is when you subscribe, download a guide or tick a box agreeing to hear from us; implied consent comes from an existing business relationship, such as being a current or recent client.

Every marketing email identifies Information Age, includes our contact information and has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribe requests are processed within 10 business days, usually immediately. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop service-related messages such as appointment confirmations, support updates and invoices.

You can withdraw consent to other uses of your information at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits. If withdrawing consent means we can no longer provide a service, we will tell you.

Cookies and analytics

Our website and emails use cookies and similar technologies to keep pages working, remember your preferences and measure how many people visit, which pages they read and whether emails are opened.

We may use Google Analytics for website statistics. It reports trends across visitors and is not used to identify you personally. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics. Blocking cookies may stop some forms or booking pages from working properly.

Sharing and service providers

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run our business, and only what they need to do that work. They are bound by contract to protect it and use it only for our purposes.

Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. While there, it may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities of that country.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or safety, or as part of a sale or merger of our business, where the buyer agrees to protect it under this policy.

Client data we handle while providing IT services

When we manage a client's computers, networks, Microsoft 365 or other systems, we may have access to personal information that belongs to the client, its staff or its customers. That information remains the client's; we act on the client's instructions and do not use it for our own purposes.

We access client systems only as needed to deliver the services agreed, using individual accounts, multi-factor authentication and logged remote access. The client's service agreement, and the client's own privacy policies, govern that information. Questions about it should go to the organization that collected it.

How long we keep it and how we protect it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires. Enquiries that do not lead to a client relationship are kept for up to two years after our last contact. Client and billing records are kept for at least seven years to meet tax requirements. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or destroy it.

We protect personal information with safeguards suited to its sensitivity:

  • Multi-factor authentication and role-based access to our systems
  • Encryption of data in transit and, where available, at rest
  • Security monitoring, patching and backups of our own systems
  • Confidentiality obligations for staff and contractors

If a breach of our safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as PIPEDA requires.

You can ask us at any time to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you, how we use it and who we have shared it with
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Stop sending you marketing emails, or withdraw consent to other uses
  • Delete your information where we no longer need to keep it

Send requests to our Privacy Officer (contact details below). We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We respond within 30 days and do not charge for reasonable requests. If we cannot fulfil a request, for example because the law requires us to keep a record, we will explain why.
